Sight, sound, taste, smell and touch. It is through these senses that we experience our world.
It is the goal of our organization to provide goods to under-privileged areas of the world  to enhance these most basic senses.

Sense the World is pleased to announce we will be donating solar lightbulbs in Peru, Colombia and Myanmar in 2012-2013.

Many people in these countries have no access to electricity, or the electricity is so expensive that residents cannot afford to use it.  Sense the World sees this as an important way we can sustainably improve the lives of the people in the communities we serve. To promote this new project we will be selling the bulbs to our supporters. These bulbs are great for camping, boating, emergency kits and may other uses.  Best of all, for each bulb you purchase, Sense the World will donate one to a family in need!

Why Nokero?

Nokero stands for “No Kerosene,” and our bulbs are an all-in-one solar system that is already completely and successfully replacing kerosene lamps and paraffin candles in places all around the world. Best of all, these lighting products are more economical than any other lights of their kind.

A Nokero light charges by day and brings hours of light each night. Nokero products original designs utilize the best technology available.

Products from Nokero:

-The bulb emits approximately 10 l
umens of light (similar to that of a typical Kerosene lamp)

-Nokero is made in a high-quality factory, has its CE certification, and is built to last 5+years when properly cared for.

-Nokero’s battery lasts 2-3 years, and is replaceable for about $1 US.

-The bulbs have the best commercially available solar panels

High-temperature battery works efficiently in all climates and the bulb is water resistant

-The N220 Solar Light Bulb is a very bright, all-in-one solar LED    light that fits in the palm of your hand. Its lead-free rechargeable, recyclable batteries are powered by the world’s most efficient commercially-available solar panel.

Twice as bright at the N200 the N220 is bright enough to replace most traditional electric lights, and is a useful light in the home or workplace.

The N220 also provides reliable lighting for the quarter of the world's population that lives without electricity. It is relied upon by professionals in diverse fields such as health care, education, and economic growth delivering services to some of the world’s most impoverished regions.

Nokero Book Light

The Nokero Ed™ is an all-in-one solar LED book light that provides clean, bright solar light allowing kids to read, study, and learn by night. Powered by the sun and a rechargeable AAA battery, Ed™ clips easily onto books or homework packets, or sits on a flat surface to light a child's workspace.

Ed™ is made from durable, child-friendly materials and has a flexible gooseneck with a powerful, bright LED light attached to the end. An “on/off” switch allows for the conservation of energy when Ed™ is not in use. To recharge Ed™, simply angle the solar panel toward the sun.

-The N200, N220 and Nokero Book Light can be used for camping, boating, garden lighting, emergency kits, kids night lights and more!

Sense the World and Nokero have partnered in order to combat the dangers of Kerosene lamps and to address the global problem of energy poverty.

-An estimated 1.3 billion people live without access to electricity.

-More than 1.8 million people a year die from complications arising from indoor air pollution.

-Kerosene fires are common, killing more than 1 million each year.

The problem affects us all: The smoke and CO2 coming from the world’s fuel lanterns is equivalent to the exhaust from 30 million cars.

Worldwide Kerosene Use

-A quarter of humanity still obtains illumination via fuel-based lighting, usually Kerosene.

-Fuel lighting is widespread in well over 100 countries.

-Typical kerosene users burn their lamps for 1.5 hours a night

-The Nokero N200 lasts 6-plus hours a night on one day’s charge.

-Inhalation of fumes from fuel lamps is equivalent to smoking 40 cigarettes a day.

-More than 1 million people per year die in fires started by fuel-lamps and lighting materials.

-Indoor air pollution is responsible for the death of 1.6 million people every year—that’s one death every 20 seconds.

-Other health risks include burns, complications from fires or explosions, child poisoning because of inadvertent consumption, exposure to unburned fuel, and compromised ‘visual health’ because of sub-standard luminance levels.

-1.3 million barrels of oil per day consumed by fuel lighting.

-Plus 190 million tons of carbon dioxide released into our atmosphere.

-One Nokero bulb can save 0.77 tons of CO2 during its lifetime.
